*Me*
I am an amateur rider in the Eastmidlands, I have been riding as long as I can remember and since the age of about 7, have begged and begged my parents for a horse, I started riding at various different riding school near where i lived but never really liked many of them, when i was about 6 we moved to Bunny Hill Equestrian Centre, I loved it there, the ponies were great and the instructers were amazing, i spent the next 8 years riding and learning there. My favourite pony was a little Fell named Primrose, standing at roughly 13 hands she had the typical first pony look about her, however she was quite green and liked to do alot of her schooling at 100Mph, When i first started riding her i was extremly nervous, but fell in love with her, I enjoyed racing round the menage and gradually begain to work on her schooling, I didn't know it at the time but I was improving her schooling quite alot, she began to start working in an outline and her paces improved rapidly. When i grew out of Primrose i moved on to the other horses at the yard and was placed (i can't quite remeber where) in my first ODE on Sada.
In December 2008 I moved to Lings Lane riding stables as we were looking to buy a horse and it was alot cheaper at lings lane, I enjoyed just under a year at Lings hacking, and jumping with alot of gymkhana thrown in; when on the 18th of August 2009 my life changed for ever!
Finally after years of wanting a horse I bought Ebby, 15.3 Dutch Warmblood X Mare, who i had alot of fun with, she had an amazing jump on her and was as honest and bold as they come. We kept her at lings for about 2 months before we moved her to Welldale in October. Welldale has amazing facilities and miles of hacking, Ebby and I were there 7 months and acheived so much together. Unfortunately on 9th May we said our goodbyes as she set off to start her new life with another family. It was a heart breaking decision but one that i knew was right, She found it hard to cope with mulitple handlers due to trust issues so despite the fact she was perfect for me 90% of the time the grooms and yard owners sometimes struggled to handle her. So she has gone to an amazing new home where she can settle and be loved for who she is. I still speak to her new owners and she seems to be getting on really well; so i'm really pleased for her!
After selling Ebony , little super cob Smartie took over, Smartie must be the most amazing 14Hh cob in the Universe! he has Tonnes of personality and flies over 4ft. He's a pleasure to loan and not only gave me something to do after loosing Ebby but something to smile about. We have been working on building up his fitness recently and I can't wait to have him fit and take him out competing again!
On 30th March Dad drove me and Tor all the way to Wisbeach to view Dex, he was lovely, a little green but he was a tryer and really willing to please, despite falling off and into the menage fence, I felt happy and confident riding him; some how it just felt right. After putting our deposit on Dex we had to wait untill Wednesday before getting the results of his 5 stage vetting.. he passed! So on Sunday 6th June he arrived home, and so began our story :).
